Here I am, February 9, starting this little Fargo Flooding page. I really hope this is not a popular site in the next few months. If it is, then there will be flooding in the Red River Valley and I do not want that… not one bit. I happen to be one of the (un)fortunate folks that live right across the street from the mighty Red River here in the FM area and last year was not fun at all. It messed with all of our lives. So, for my introductory post, I just want to give you some insight on what I want to do here.
Last year I spent most of my time sandbagging and working hard, but a guy has to sleep also. Since my area of town in North Fargo was behind one of the contingency dikes, I decided to sleep elsewhere. How nice would it have been to have a way to check out what is going on at the homestead? Very. This year, I hope to come prepared with live video.
I hope to put up a webcam from my window here so that I can keep an eye on the area. Also, this will allow my family and friends to check out what is going on. Finally, it will allow random people of the internet to take a look into what is happening here in Fargo, North Dakota this spring. I will also hopefully get some other good links and information up here for your viewing pleasure.
So, join me on what hopefully will be a very uneventful and boring spring. If you have any suggestions for the site, please let me know, but please do so soon. I suspect I will not be doing a whole lot of updating if the poop hits the fan.

This year, we live within a stone’s throw of the river too!… just south of downtown & the dike west.
Putting up a webcam is an interesting idea, especially if – like u said – the poop hits the fan & those of us on the first line relocate temporarily but want to be able to monitor the homestead. Do you already have a camera?
Well Matt, we will be there to stack bags for you if you do the same for us. You guys were awesome last year (not to limit it to last year)
