Red River levels are decreasing in Fargo

The Red River is going down in Fargo!  Barring any heavy rain or unexpected circumstances, we are way OUT of the Flood of 2010.  We are still in Major flood stage, so there are still dangers out there, but this is a great indicator!

Congratulations, Fargo. Looks like you got away with it for another year. However, as for the comment “We beat the mutha”, there are probably a couple of things you ought to keep in mind: (1) Rivers work 24/7 for millions of years without EVER taking a day off (can you say that about the Corps of Engineers?)(2) The spring floods will be back again next year, and the year after that, and the year after that… So, you might want to rethink your clever plan.

Well… yeah. That is why we have been working on a diversion plan. Unfortunately, it should have been started in 1997, but the focus ended up being on GF because of the devastation there. Instead, they started it last year and have been making progress on pace (sort of) with the fix they had for Grand Forks. So, (1) thank you for stating the obvious and (2) what plan did I say anything about? Are you making things up? Living across the street from the river, I am well aware that danger still looms, there is quite a bit to still be concerned about and that the overall fight is far from over.
